Watertown Cooperative Nursery School
WCNS was created in 1952 by a group of parents who envisioned a nursery school where their children would feel comfortable and cared for, where friendships could grow, and where positive reinforcement would be a constant. At WCNS our goal is to help children feel good about themselves and their accomplishments. We encourage individual creativity, group participation, and problem solving in everything we do. Our curriculum encourages healthy social, physical, and cognitive skills, but is first and foremost designed for fun. A cooperative spirit underlies all aspects of WCNS, and the resulting sense of community is priceless.

For our curriculum we draw on children’s emerging interests, encouraging their curiosity. Children enjoy the creative process and hands-on materials, while learning problem-solving skills to build strong friendships and self-confidence. Children learn that learning is fun, while gaining social skills to prepare them for the next phase of their education.

WCNS is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, and accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), demonstrating excellence beyond state-required minimum standards.
